Policy statements Age discrimination is a particular problem in the sphere of employment. Regulation will be introduced during 2006 to ban age discrimination in employment. However, the Government is proposing to allow employers to continue to force people to retire after the age of 65 until at least 2011. Help the Aged believes it is unacceptable to view age as a proxy for competence. Policy statement on employment (April 2006) An updated policy statement following the new Age Discrimination regulations, this explains the Charity's policies and positions on older people and employment.
